In 1966, Health practitioner Who producer Innes Lloyd decided to replace William Hartnell while in the series' direct part. Lloyd afterwards mentioned that Hartnell experienced authorised of the choice, saying, "You can find only one man in England who normally takes more than, and that's Patrick Troughton" (Howe, Stammers and Walker, sixty eight).
